Join local registered dietitian, health education specialist and chef, Melanya, in this immersive culinary workshop. We’ll explore the timeless craft of pasta-making from scratch—covering a variety of techniques and ingredients and discussing how to pair it with seasonal produce and dishes as well as maximizing the nutrient content in pasta-based meals.This is more than just a cooking class—it’s a journey into mindful, intentional nourishment. You’ll engage all your senses as you mix, knead, roll, and shape your own pasta by hand, connecting with food in a way that’s both meditative and deeply satisfying.Together, we’ll explore:
The history, art, and mindfulness of pasta-making as an immersive experience
The benefits of different types of grains and naturally colorful ingredients
Cultural perspectives on food (particularly pasta!) and how tradition shapes our interaction and experience of eating
Pairing pasta with antioxidant-rich herbs and other foods to create a balanced meal
Intuitive eating and a exploration of mindful cooking, with the sensory experience of making simple foods from scratch
Make & Take Pasta
Each participant will create their own batch of pasta, choosing from a variety of flour blends and ingredients featuring fresh and preserved produce, herbs, and spices. We'll end the session with a shared tasting experience, celebrating the joy of making—and eating—together.Whether you're a seasoned home cook or simply pasta-curious, this workshop offers a rich, restorative experience grounded in creativity, culture, and connection. Before You Arrive
As this is a hands-on cooking experience and we do not wish to spread germs to others, please do not attend if you are feeling ill or have recently experienced a fever, vomiting or diarrhea within the last 48 hours. All tools, equipment, and supplies will be provided, including aprons. Please dress in comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes - it would be ideal not to have long, draping sleeves or wear hand or wrist jewelry since we will be using our hands in the workshop.
